Chaseville Match Report
This was our first visit to the Bramley Ground for some time and was unfortunately not a pleasant one. Chaseville batted first and openers Callan and Laney built a solid start with Callan being stumped first ball after the drinks interval off Alan for 24. The score 64-1 after 20 overs.
Another 62 were added by Laney and his son Rob before Anuj bowled R Laney for 39. Wazeem became Nuj's second victim, neatly caught down the leg side by Brad standing up to the wicket.
Alan and Brad combined to run out Fisher after Alan's throw from fine leg saw Fisher out by a yard attempting a second. Anuj clean bowled Steve Dinness and Chaseville reached 181-4 at the end of their 40 overs.
Captain of the day Anuj asked Terry to join Mark at the start of our innings, no not to umpire...
Mark was run out in the 8th over with the score on 16. Brad and Terry had added 50 when Terry was lbw to Rob Laney in the 23rd over. Dave Brown, looking to raise the tempo was out lbw to the same bowler two overs later and Brad followed 4 runs later trying to pull as the ball kept low and was caught at mid wicket. Sameer looked good as usual but was caught for 29 and Myddelton's challenge was all but over with Anuj, Arthur, Alan, Jeff and Fitzy all falling in the space of 6 overs for 28 runs. A slow start had put too much pressure on the middle order and batsmen getting good starts and getting out has been all too regular an occurance this year Brad and Sameer being the main culprits. This was the 8th time Brad has been out between 30 and 50 and the 9th time Sameer has been out between 20 and 50 this season.
All in all it was a fairly depressing performance although there were a few decent individual performances including Terry's top spell of 8 overs, Brad's catch and Alan's run out, Jeff's 6 overs for 16 runs and Nuj's 3-31.
