Khalse Match Report

Sameer won the toss and chose to bat. He opened along with Ken and it wasn't long before he was taking control with some powerfull stylish shots all of which were along the floor. He managed to run out his partner Ken early on which brought Brad to the crease. A partnership of 55 was ended when Sameer was caught at mid-on for 40. A shame because he had batted beautifully. Lee joined Brad and looked to be going well but just as last week managed to find point with a well struck cut shot and was again caught. Phil came to the wicket and soon became the second victim of a run out. Arthur returning from holiday made his highest score of the season in a partnership of 70 with Brad, who completed his century and became the 5th man out two balls later being bowled trying a lofted drive over extra cover. The score now at 188-5. Anuj joined Arthur and peppered the leg side boundary for a while scoring 17 including two 4's and a 6 before being caught behind. Alan and Arthur finished off the innings with Alan finishing 10n/o mainly from the infamous late cut. Myddelton finished on 225-6
Alan and Anuj started off and with the score at 36-0 Alan had bowled three maidens while Nuj had been savaged for 30+ off his first three overs. Nuj found himself on a hat trick a couple of overs later having claimed the wicket of Colin, his tormenter from the early overs and Dabbu, both cleaned bowled. Alan took 4 wickets with his usual tight line and with the occasional off break that appeared to turn at right angles. John and Fitzy were brought on - John taking a wicket quickly, but any thoughts of Khalse going for the runs had long since gone and after Fitzy had completed his fourth over having bowled 3 maidens, he and John were removed from the attack and Sameer and Brad were brought on. There seemed little doubt that Khalse would fold now that the premier seamer was in the game. Alas Sameer failed to take a wicket as did Brad at the other end as Kukki and Bunty both defended as though their lives depended on it. In the last 3 overs Brad thought he had Bunty plumb lbw playing back, Brad dropped a sharp chance high above his head at slip and John dropped an awkward chance at slip off Brad. Sameer was hit for four off the penultimate ball and Lee handed the keepers gloves to Brad who decided he would stand up to the wicket as Sameer would surely just turn his arm over as it was the last ball. Wrong!! He fired in a quick one off four paces that took the edge of Kukki's bat almost decapitating Brad and flew at head height past Arthur at first slip a pitch length back, bouncing twice before the boundary. Sameer insisted that Brad be fined for a dropped catch and for "thinking you could ever stand up to me!!!"
