Hockerill match report

Myddelton Avenge Early Season Defeat

Hockerill skipper Anthony won the toss and invited Myddelton to bat. The match started early, around 1.50 and Rohan soon set about the opening bowlers making 34 out of the first 50 odd runs with Lee on just 7. Brad joined Lee at the fall of Rohans wicket and while not looking comfortable put on a decent partnership with Lee who was now scoring freely. Brad was next out, bowled by the Hockerill skipper for 34 and Lee went on to make 55 before being clean bowled by AJ. Mark and Sameer finished off the innings, Sameer making 20 not out off the last five overs and Mark made an unbeaten 57 batting beautifully with a mixture of back foot drives and cuts his most productive scoring shots. Myddelton finished on 228-3
Hockerill's reply began badly with Anuj taking two wickets and Sameer one as Hockerill were reeling at 15-3. Myddelton were not about to get carried away at this score as it was much the same in the game earlier in the season when Hockerill went on to win the game. Terry took over from Sameer at the far end and as usual the talk at the wicket was of Terry bowling "dot balls" as he reeled off 9 straight maidens including two wicket maidens. John and Fitzy both had spells at the Pavillion end with out much effort being made by the batsmen to score runs, although a wild attempted pull shot to mid-on was dropped by Lee low down off Fitzy's 2nd ball. Alan replaced Terry at the far end and Anuj was brought on at the other end for his second spell but didn't quite live up to his first spell which was an excellent one especially as it was his first game since injuring his ankle a couple of weeks ago. Alan and Anuj both finished with 3 but still one wicket eluded Myddelton. Brad was brought on at the Pavillion end with four overs remaining and Sameer prepared to bowl at the other end. Brad took the final wicket with his fifth ball, Rohan taking the catch behind the stumps.
A comfortable win to avenge the defeat in April.

Apologies for any errors in personal scores etc, only a certain person forgot to take the scorebook to the game on sunday and as yet does not have the details.
