Walthamstow 14th May 40 overs match
Walthamstow 125 MHCC 126-6
Alan won the toss and had no hesitation in asking W’stow to bat. Anuj struck first in the 4th over with Sameer striking in the 5th. W’stow 14-2. John continued his great start to the season with 3 more wickets (season total already 11 wkts), Alan bowled 6 overs for just 17 runs, Fitzy 1-12 in 3 overs, Brad hit direct to run out the number 8 with Fitzy doing circles around the stumps, not sure what he was doing. Jeff 1-6 in 2 overs and Brad 2-3 in 2 overs meant that MHCC again had to chase a low total, just 126 to win.
MHCC ,s reply stuttered a little to begin with. Rohan made just 2 and Mark was run out for 8 and Arthur, caught behind for 1, bringing Brad and Sameer together. A partnership of 77 followed with Sameer (35) playing a fine supporting role to Brad (quote Anuj and co.) as the two of them took the game away from W’stow. Hold on though, Brad holes out to mid off, Chris makes a 3 ball duck and Sameer is given out lbw. Never fear Anuj is here!! For the first time in his life Anuj (14n/o) hits the winning runs which seemed to go unnoticed but not for long. What happened to the jug fella?
Oh yes one last thing. Sorry Sam I haven’t forgotten. Fielding on the mid-on boundary Sameer did a Terry!! Having run about ten yards he took an excellent catch but to Fitzy’s dismay Sam ran over the boundary and the umpire signalled six! Why didn’t he throw it back to save the runs? Only Sam will know the answer but I’m sure TB will be delighted to hear about it.
